Enterprises today are more aware that data- and information assets represent significant values, with direct influence on their financial performance and operational capabilities. Poor quality and poor management of data- and information resources are recognized as major cost drivers and a significant obstacle to business performance and improvement.
AP239 is an ISO 10303 standard that is focused on representing product lifecycle information, including the configuration definition and how this is formed through the relationships between product definition and product operations information. It’s main purpose is to address the key business problem “How to keep the information needed to operate and maintain a product aligned with the changing product over its life cycle in a heterogeneous organization, process and system environment?”
The ability to leverage industry standards such as AP239 with other international standard such as the S Series Standards from the ASD ILS organization provides opportunities to enhance digital-based communications throughout the product lifecycle.
