Boeing Supplier Engagement Framework and OMG CASCaDE

K/L

The challenge of Digital Engineering collaboration extends beyond design into production and support, this is a must to enhance quality, reduce recurring costs, and stabilize supply chains.

This digital collaboration complexity is managed at Boeing by deploying a Supplier Engagement Framework. It defines different “journeys” of engagement with the supplier along the lifecycle of the product, from requirements and architecture definition, to collaboration on digital manufacturing.

However, our current landscape has delivered a federated set of data formats and standards to represent different product data domains. Digital collaboration is progressing in silos supported by specifications such as STEP, QIF, SysML, or FMI, the Industry calls for a solution to close the gaps between silos and enabling digital continuity across companies.

Boeing is leading the formalization and standardization of the “Digital Data Package”, as the next, digital version of a Technical Data Package. The Object Management Group (OMG) standardization project is CASCaDE: Collaborative Artifact Specification, Context and Data Exchange. CASCaDE seeks the semantic integration of digital models used in the collaboration, at the model entity level.

This presentation will provide an update to Boeing’s Supplier Engagement Framework, and to CASCaDE, including the use cases, technical approach, steering team, the roadmap, and the relationship with other standardization activities such SysML V2, and OMG Model-Based Acquisition.
