Generative AI assisted graph queries in Model Based Systems Engineering

M/N
  1. Model-based Systems Engineering projects consist of highly interrelated data with deep running chains of connections. Graph databases and knowledge graph technologies have proven to be a powerful tool for representing and analyzing those connections and extracting information that would not have been practical using traditional relational and document database solutions. Querying this information though requires expert knowledge of a graph query language (such as SPARQL) as well as a deep understanding of the schemas and semantics of the data involved. This presentation focuses on practical approaches leveraging MBSE data, graph databases, automated vocabulary generators and generative AI chatbots to enable users to ask questions in natural language and receive detailed answers to their questions. The presentation includes a walk-through of the OpenMBEE deployment at Boeing that hosts the data, an introduction to the use cases for the queries, a demo of the solution as well as a discussion of optimization methods.
