Long-Term Engineering Analysis & Simulation Data Stewardship: A Call to Action for the LOTAR EAS Working Group

A/B

As Model-Based Engineering (MBE) advances, the enduring accessibility and reusability of critical Engineering Analysis & Simulation (EAS) assets are paramount for a truly complete Digital Thread. LOTAR International’s Engineering Analysis & Simulation (EAS) working group develops standards for archiving, retrieving, and reusing these vital assets — inputs, results, and metadata — independent of originating IT systems, thus safeguarding against digital obsolescence and transforming archives into active knowledge reservoirs. These NAS/EN 9300-6xx standards address crucial business and legal imperatives such as product liability, certification, and support for evolving product lifecycles. Following a strategic pause, the LOTAR EAS WG is relaunching to meet these industry imperatives. This presentation invites MBE practitioners and stakeholders to hear how the group will shape the forthcoming NAS/EN 9300-6xx standards. Join this collaborative effort to define the future of EAS data preservation. Activities will formally recommence at the LOTAR workshop in Charleston, SC, Spring 2026. Contribute to securing our collective digital engineering heritage.
