Director for the Integrated Digital Product Development and Services – Northrop Grumman
Chris Orlowski is the Director for the Integrated Digital Product Development and Services organization within the Enterprise Services Sector. He is responsible for defining and executing the IT strategy across engineering, manufacturing, and logistics to include the Enterprise Digital Thread/Twin.
Dr. Orlowski’s prior role was as the Director, Programs for the Technology Services Sector and the Information Systems Sector. Dr. Orlowski was responsible for ensuring superior program performance by providing on-site and coordinated assistance for key leverage programs. He was also responsible for continuous improvement of program execution activities across the sectors. Prior to this role, Dr. Orlowski served as the Corporate Director for Programs. He led Non-Advocate Reviews/Independent Cost Evaluations (NAR/ICE) dedicated to enhancing program performance and strategic pursuits for the Corporation.
Prior to this role, Dr. Orlowski was the Corporate Director for Engineering. He had the responsibility for ensuring that engineering capabilities were utilized to the maximum extent possible and were aligned to satisfy current and future customer demands across the enterprise. Additional responsibilities included the identification and development of state-of-the-art capabilities, best practices, and technologies that ensure successful program execution and enable multi-sector growth. In this role, Dr. Orlowski chaired the Corporate Engineering Council.
Previous to that, Dr. Orlowski was the Corporate Director, Technology. He was responsible for the identification and development of technologies that enable multi-sector growth areas. He chaired the Corporate Technology Council and the Intellectual Asset Management Council. He was also responsible for the corporate intellectual property office.
Dr. Orlowski joined Northrop Grumman in 1999 as a senior systems engineer. Since then, he has held a number of increasingly responsible positions, including program manager for various C4ISR programs at the Electronic Systems sector in Baltimore, Md, and head of the Systems Engineering department at the Shipbuilding Sector in Newport News, Virginia.
Prior to joining NGC, Dr. Orlowski worked closely with the Navy’s ship acquisition community in Arlington, Virginia as a naval architect, systems engineer and program manager.
Dr. Orlowski received his bachelor’s degree in aerospace and ocean engineering and a master’s degree in systems engineering from Virginia Tech, and a Ph.D. in systems engineering from The George Washington University. He is a graduate of the Executive Program at University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. He serves on the Corporate Advisory Board of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE). He is past President of the Hampton Roads Area chapter for INCOSE.
